A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story of Christmas ... Celebrates the Transformative Power of Community

What better choice could there be to direct the Pymble Players’ production of A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas than Joy Sweeney - a self-confessed Christmas tragic.

“I love everything about Christmas,” said Joy. “I love the decorations. I love the music. I love the whole fanfare about it. I'm an absolute Christmas addict, and I always have been. I've even directed and written Christmas shows. That's how much I love it.”

“I love this adaptation. It’s a different look at A Christmas Carol. The ghosts are slightly different, and it’s a much more family-friendly version. A Christmas Carol can be very dark, and while this version has its dark moments, it’s also terrifically enjoyable and fast-moving. It's a perfect Christmas show for kids, because it's full of happiness and fun  - just a little bit of scariness.”

This production, running at the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood in November, is dedicated to the memory of two very special people - John Howitt and Tom Sweeney.

Both men are much missed, and it’s fitting that a show centred on the generosity of the human spirit and the transformative power of community be dedicated in their honour.

The Pymble Players’ production of ‘A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas’ runs 13 - 22 November 2026 at the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood.
